About the blinds...
Our Total Blackout Roller Blind XL system provides complete blackout, blocks draughts & prevents heat loss. Masterfully engineered, this system is different to our edge of recess Total Blackout Blind range. These blinds come with an operating chain due to supporting the heavier weight of the fabric, and it fit at any point within the recess, with no overlap.
These blinds offer an energy efficient barrier, reducing heat loss through the window, heating the room faster.
About Inside of Recess Fitting
Unlike our regular total blackout blind this product sits completely inside the recess. This means that if your wall is not straight light can enter the room between the frame of the blind and the wall. If you have this scenario we recommend filling this gap with decorators caulk to create a complete blackout effect.
These blinds can fit at any point within a recess, so ensure to measure the width & drop sizes in the part of the recess you would like the blind to fit.

We sell complete blinds only & will send you the full kit. This includes:

- 100% polyester fabrics
Cassette
The fabric that surrounds the barrel mechanism is completely enclosed. The side rails slot into each end of the cassette for installation. The barrel is a 32mm aluminium tube.
Seal
A ruuber seal is attached to the bottom of the handle & there are also rubber seals within the side channels. When the blind is closed, these seals then create a barrier between the blind & sill, reducing heat loss & completely blocking out light.
Nickel Chain & P-Clip
A P-Clip is attached to the chain to ensure the blind is child safe.
Fixing Components
Left & right guide dog brackets are supplied.
How are they operated?
The blind is operating with a chain or motorised system. The blind pulls down through the side rails.

Frame Colour
The frame colour doesn't have multiple options. It is only offered in an anodised white frame:
Requirements
In order to check if these blinds are going to be suitable for your window, you will need to check the following:
- You must have a square or rectangular recess. You must ensure the recess is even and square, otherwise this will cause the blind to not fit properly, or cause light leakage.
- You must have a recess depth of 5cm minimum
- Check for any obstructions that may restrict the usage of the blind. This may include trickle vents, top opening windows, skirting boards, or protruding window handles. As these blinds are designed to be flush all the way down the wall, any skirting will not make this type of blind suitable.
- These blinds are not suitable for a window to be open when the blind is closed, as this will pull the fabric out of the side channels.
Tolerances
To ensure the blind is correctly operating & giving you the total blackout effect, the blind can only work within limited window reveal tolerances, i.e. the window must be as square as possible. Fitting a total blackout blind onto the edge of a window recess outside of the stated tolerances will lead to potential poor operation, poor performance and product damage.
- The cassette will always be made to the top width.
- The differences between the top and middle widths must be no larger than 2mm.
- The differences between the overall width sizes must be no larger than 7mm.
- The differences between the overall drop sizes must be no larger than 5mm.
We highly stress the importance of squareness for this type of blind, in order for the blind to operate & function properly.
If you find the window is not within these tolerances, we recommend either of the following options:
- Work to the smallest width & drop measurements, and pad the window out as required.
- Pad the window out first to ensure squareness (you can use wooden batons, for example) and take the measurements again.

Care
You can use a synthetic or feather duster to clean, and can be wiped lightly with a damp cloth.
