About the blinds...
Our Sunscreen roller blind collection offers a "magic" aspect our other roller fabrics don't have... These fabrics are designed for windows where you can see outside, but stops people being able to see in during the day. This range of fabrics is very popular because of its unique properties, which is why we use it for our Luxury Double Roller Blinds.
Fabric Properties
We use an open weave, vinyl and polyester mesh fabric, which creates a screen effect whilst allowing some light through. These blinds also do a great job of removing glare from TV screens and protect your furniture, wall art, and other belongings from fading. The perfect solar control solution!
The secret behind this type of blind is all about the light source. During the day the light outside hits the screen and reflects away so that people outside cannot see in. From the inside you have an almost perfect view out making them ideal for bathrooms, offices and indeed any room where you want privacy and reduced glare making them ideal for windows next to computer screens as well.
At night time these blinds still offer a good level of privacy as the artificial light within a home is generally not as bright. This isn't guaranteed, however, as the screen effect is generally reversed. We recommend pairing this with a blackout blind or curtains so these can be drawn at night, reserving the privacy in your home.
What do you get?
We sell complete blinds only & will send you the full kit. This includes:
- Standard system: Brackets & bracket covers (suitable for either top or face fixing)
- Luxury system: White cassette covering, blind brackets, cassette end caps, and cassette brackets (suitable for either top or face fixing)
- Chain & chain mechanism
- Roller blind tube
- Bottom weight / exposed aluminium bottom bar, if you choose
- Child safety clip
- Screws
How are they operated?
These blinds are supplied with a sidewinder mechanism for complete control, and a safety clip to attach to your wall or window frame, which then tensions the chain.
The chain can be fitted on either the left or right side of the blind. When you receive the blind & you would then like to change the roller side over, this is possible to do:
Require a longer length chain?
We can provide a longer length chain no problem at all! In order to do so, we need to take an Installation Height from you to comply with child safety legislation.
An installation height is the height from the floor, to the very top of the window where the blind will be fitted. Once we have confirmation on this height, we can then work out the maximum chain length we can send to comply with this legislation, ensuring that the chain will reach 150cm away from the floor.
You can include this measurement in your special instructions at the checkout, alternatively, you can call us or email this information to our customer service team.
What can I customise?
If you are stuck on what to choose from our drop down menus when ordering, you can find additional information by clicking the 'Question Mark' icons next to the drop down menus. These provide photos or any additional information you may need to confirm, before placing the order. You can find them here:
Chain Colour
You can choose from a couple of different options: White plastic, Black plastic, or Nickel.
Bracket Colour
Our sunscreen roller blinds are available with brackets in either white, black, or anthracite grey.
Bottom Finish
You can choose from a couple of different options: Plain bottom finish (complete with a bottom weight), or an exposed aluminium bottom bar in black, silver or white.
All of our roller blinds are now made with a sewn bottom finish.
Roll Direction
Please see description of each below:
- Standard roll - The fabric will fall off of the back of the tube closest to the window. We make all our roller blinds this way as standard, unless instructed otherwise.
- Reverse roll - The fabric will fall off of the front of the tube into the room. This is ideal if you require extra clearance for the fabric, with obstructions such as window or door handles.
If you would like the blind with a Reverse Roll, all you need to do is include this in the special instructions at checkout.
Roller System
Standard Roller System
The standard roller system allows the fabric roll, brackets and blind mechanism to be seen. It's the most common system used and the one you've probably seen around the most. The brackets are suitable for both top & face fixing.
Luxury Roller System
If you choose our luxury roller system, we will supply you with a smart 7cm tall aluminium cassette, fitted with an insert of the same fabric used to make your blind. The brackets supplied can either be top or face fixed.
The cassette hides the roll of fabric, the brackets & mechanism, whilst also removing the gap you would usually see between the ceiling & the fabric roll.
Sizing Information
For our plain roller blinds, we add 40cm onto the drop, which ensures that the roller tube isn't exposed when the blind is at its fullest drop. For all printed & patterned blinds, we add 30cm onto the drop.
When fitting your blind outside the window recess, we recommend overlapping the window by at least 10cm on the width & drop. You can then specify whether you want us to use these measurements as the Blind Size or the Fabric Size. Please see our guide on how to measure for this here.
Recess Size
If you want to fit your blind within the window recess, you will need to order the blind as a 'Recess Size'. Please see our guide on how to measure for this here.
Make sure you do not make any reductions from these sizes yourself, because for a recess we will take a 0.5cm reduction from the width you provide, to ensure the blind fits into the space. The fabric width will be approximately 3.5cm shorter than the bracket to bracket width.
Blind Size
If you choose Blind Size, we will use your measurements as the size of the blind including the brackets and mechanism. We will not make any reductions to this. The fabric width will be approximately 3.5cm shorter than the bracket to bracket width.
Fabric Size
If you choose Fabric Size, we will use your measurements as the size of the fabric part of the blind only. This means that the size of the brackets will be 3.5cm wider overall, in addition to the fabric size.
Bracket Sizes
- For blinds up to a 2 metre width and drop, we will make these on a 32mm roller tube.
- For blinds at a larger scale (2 metres +), to ensure the weight of the fabric isn't too much, we make these blinds on a 40mm roller tube.
