How To Measure
When measuring for a bifold door, we recommend to take the full measurement of the recess, and split the measurements into smaller sizes. We recommend then ordering each blind as "Recess" measurements, as we make a further 0.5cm reduction from each.
You can use the hinges of the doors as guides, if you take the measurements from above the hinges.
For example, if you have 3 doors of equal width, take the full measure of the recess, and split this into 3 equal sizes.
What To Consider
-
The stack sizes of certain blinds, to ensure this clears the top of the doors when opened. This mainly applies to Venetian Blinds and Roman Blinds that are folded up, as opposed to rolling onto a roller tube. Please see stack sizes below:
-
- Sherwood, Faux Wood, Real Wood Venetian Blinds
- Roman Blinds
-
- Dimensions of the brackets or cassette, dependant on the type of blind ordered.
- All of our blinds are only suitable for top or face fixing, so ensure you have enough space to fit the blinds and the brackets.
- If you are ordering roller blinds for bifold doors, when the blinds are fitted together, there will be a 4cm gap between the fabric of each blind, due to the size of the brackets & chain mechanism. Please ensure if this is what you opt for, that the frames are a minimum of 4cm wide if you want to cover the glass & avoid any light leakage.
Why Perfect Fit Blinds Are Not Always Suitable
Usually for bifold doors, the doors when opened will fold completely. Even though the windows may have the beading & the clearance required for perfect fit blinds, if the doors are designed to fold completely when opened, these blinds aren't suitable.
This is due to the size of the top cassette. As these protrude from the window frame, this will result in the cassettes bashing together, getting scratched & the doors not opening properly.
