Suitability For A Perfect Fit Blind
Unfortunately, not all windows are suitable for perfect fit roller blinds. Your window(s) must meet all of the following criteria to be suitable for perfect fit roller blinds
- Be a UPVC window with a rubber seal surrounding the glass.
- You need 2.5cm clearance from the glass before any obstruction all the way around the window. The key areas to check are door or window handles, and trickle vents. This space is required due to the size & overlap of the perfect fit cassette.
- Size: The minimum size a perfect fit blind can be made is 35cm wide x 20cm drop. The maximum width is 140cm for all blinds. The maximum drop is determined by the thickness of the fabric and varies from 120-200cm.
How To Measure
Before you begin measuring, you will need a steel tape measure, a steel ruler, and something flat, such as a credit card.
- Take glass width measurements at 3 places: top, middle, and bottom of the window. Note down the smallest of the 3 sizes.
- Take glass drop measurements at 3 places: left, middle, and right of the window. Note down the smallest of the 3 sizes.
- Place something flat, such as a credit card, onto the window frame, overhanging the glass. Measure the distance between the card & the glass. This is the window depth measurement, usually ranging between 18-30mm.
Please note: Measurements required are for visible glass only so you need to measure the glass up to the seal.
If Your Window Depth Is Smaller Than 18mm
Our smallest bracket size is 18mm. If you find that your window depth is smaller than 18mm, the frame can still fit in the window, however, as the brackets will extend the cassette out further than the window frame, this will create gaps around the edges of the frame, causing light leakage. These gaps can be filled in with builders caulk, or something similar.
Please see the following image illustrating where this gap would be:
